Alumina, or Aluminium Oxyde, can be produced in a range of purity. Typical grades that are used for modern industrial applications are 99.5% to 99.9% with additives designed to enhance properties. A wide variety of ceramic processing methods can be applied including machining or net shape forming to produce a wide variety of sizes and shapes of component.
Alumina is a ceramic material widely used in the following applications :
■electrical insulators, corrosion-resistance components for gas lasers, for semiconductor processing equipment (such as chuck, end effector, seal ring)
■ electrical insulators for electron tubes.
■ structural parts for high-vacuum and cryogenic equipment, nuclear radiation devices, equipment used at high-temperature.
■ corrosion-resistance components, piston for pumps, valves and dosing systems, sampling blood valves.
